FAQ

Does insurance pay for Counseling?

I am contracted with several insurance companies (United Healhcare, BCBS, AETNA, MEDCOST, HUMANA, MEDICARE, UMR, MAGELLAN, COVENTRY, TRICARE, CIGNA, MHN, & OPTUM) You will need to contact your insurance company to inquire about your policy and psychotherapy services. I will bill your insurance company if appropriate. Co-pays are expected at time services are rendered. Intensive services are NOT usually covered by insurance companies.

How long are my sessions?

The initial session is usually about 90 minutes. The following sessions are 45- 60 minutes. Intensive services session duration varies based on the needs of the participants.

Is my therapist available outside of traditional hours?

This varies based on your therapist. Your therapist should address this with you during your initial session.

Will the therapist give me advice?

It’s not a therapist's responsibility to give you advice. At Essential Journey, we get to know you and help you gain or regain your confidence. We review the pros and cons of available options. Therapists want to empower the client by helping them get back in the driver’s seat of life. We teach effective problem solving strategies, help clients overcome barriers and take their power back.
